Despite Weezy’s comments about disliking New York, the rapper has a special place in his heart for Staten Island.
Young Money’s capo recently ventured to the borough and kicked it with Jersey Shore star, Vinny, who’s starring in his own spinoff show where he brings celebs back to his childhood crib. With his wild kin in the mix, guest stars like Lil Wayne will get the real Italian family experience. Did they hit the streets and catch grenades?
For those who aren’t really up on who’s smashing who in the industry, Wayne and Karrine “Super Head” Steffans have been friends with benefits for damn near 6 years. The rapper and author have have lived out their love affair in the public. It doesn’t seem to matter who she’s married to or who he’s dating; these two have been solid.
Sources say the author was highly disappointed with a particular lyric in Wayne’s latest single, “Kush and Alcohol“. The pair had just come off a lover’s quarrel when the rapper made the lyric to hurt Karrine –– and it worked.
Lately though Karrine has been feeling a little salty, first she goes on a Twitter rant and now she’s shot a video (seen below) to further express you grief.
Lil Wayne has not had the best weekend, Wayne reportedly suffered two seizuresin under 24hours, with the latest occurring on private jet from Texas to Los Angeles, CA shortly after the rapper suffered his first seizure.
He was released from the hospital after being treated for severe migraine and dehydration.
LilWayne is assuring fans that he’s doing well after suffering from two seizures in as many days.
The rapper tweeted, “Thanx for all the prayers! I am good.”
Wayne has had a rough run with New York City for quite some time now, first he was arrested in 2007 and ultimately jailed for gun possession after getting pulled over following a live show. His most recent misstep was earlier in the summer when he pulled Nicki Minaj from her scheduled performance at Hot 97′s Summer Jam, which we all should remember created quite the controversy.
Now he simply just doesn’t like us.
In a recent interview, when Wayne was posed with the question of what happened with Hot 97′s Summer Jam performance, he didn’t hesitate to express his dislike for the Rotten Apple.
“Lil Wayne has never been shy about expressing his disdain for New York, but that didn’t stop Tunechi from rolling through the Roseland Ballroom to rock the stage with Nicki Minaj. ‘Flat out: I don’t like New York’, Weezy told MTV News on Monday night while in Las Vegas to introduce his new line of sneakers with Supra.”
“Wayne’s distaste for the Big Apple performances is understandable, considering it was his 2007 gun arrest after a NYC show that led to his 2010 incarceration. ‘You’re not supposed to leave it at, ‘Everything happens for a reason,’ Wayne said of how the failed Summer Jam set turned into a blessing in disguise. ‘I believe everything happens for a reason and then you make the most of that reason. I think we made the most of it last week.”
Weezy’s comments were heard by Queens State Senator Malcolm Smith who demands an apology from Lil Wayne.
A press release from the Senator’s office stated that ”The rapper publicly said he flat out don’t like New York. New York City is the birthplace of the Hip Hop music movement. Millions of New Yorkers listen to his music every day. His comments outraged his local fans and residents. The group today will be demanding an apology of the hip hop star.”
The press release also promised that Smith will be “joined by members of the hip hop youth council and tourism officials” to help address the issue as well.
Wayne is entitled to feel that way given his history, so should he apologize?
Weezy lets fan Jesse Diebolt design the the new mixtape cover on his birthday. Below is an alternate version that been making the rounds on Twitter, I think the alternate cover captures who Wayne is now more than Diebolt’s version, but then again Lil Wayne is on some skateboard ish now, so it works.
In addition to choosing the artwork, Wayne also put out a PSA regarding the mixtape being pushed back until next week.
Lil Wayne is in the process of putting the finishing touches on his “I Am Not A Human Being II” project which he had said was originally the Juelz Santana “I Can’t Feel My Face” collaboration album, that people have been waiting for damn near 5 years . It’s set to drop later this year but no release date has been given.
While he was in attendance at this past weekend’s 2012 X Games, Weezy interacted with fans in an online chat. And when a fan asked him when Carter 5 will hit stores, the Young Money general responded by saying “Carter 5 will come most likely next year.”
Carter IV was good but It still didn’t last more than 2 weeks in my iPod, when you think of timeless music Wayne doesn’t really come to mind.
Is anyone really in a rush to hear the Carter IV? Do you think it will be more of the same? Hip Hop Music
Oh look Nicki Minaj is a rapper again, after a few experimental misses with “Starships,” “Marilyn Monroe” and “Stupid Hoe,” – the Queens version of Nicki Minaj returns to us with the title track from her Roman Reloaded album featuring Lil Wayne. Now this is the Nicki I know and love.
